Beware of The Motorcyclist: Bike Rental Agency in Shimla – A Fraudulent Experience

I had a dreadful experience with The Motorcyclist, a bike rental agency in Shimla, due to the deceitful and unprofessional behavior of its owner, Piyush Grover. I rented a Yamaha FZ250 from this agency on 1st July 2023 for a 4-day tour to Chitkul and Kalpa, but what followed was a series of unfortunate events that ruined my trip.

On the 4th day of my tour, while I was in Rampur, the bike’s self suddenly malfunctioned, leaving me stranded on the road. Concerned about the situation, I immediately contacted Piyush Grover to inform him of the issue. He suggested that I take the bike to a nearby Yamaha service center for repairs. After the technician inspected the bike, it became apparent that the self was faulty, and worse yet, the battery was completely dead. The technician explained that the battery needed replacement, leaving me with no other option but to get it fixed.

Piyush, in an attempt to save face, asked me to bear the cost of the battery replacement, promising that he would reimburse the full amount along with my security deposit. The total cost of the repair was ₹2431, and I had paid a security deposit of ₹2000. Despite my hesitations, I reluctantly agreed to his proposal, as I wanted to resolve the situation as soon as possible.

The repair process took several hours, causing significant delays and jeopardizing my entire schedule. Consequently, I reached Shimla late at around 9:30 pm. I immediately contacted Piyush to arrange the return of the bike, but upon reaching the designated location, he was nowhere to be found. Despite numerous calls, Piyush remained elusive and insensitive to my situation. He suggested that I come in the morning to complete the formalities, completely disregarding my prior commitments, including my bus reservation at 10:30 pm.

Feeling cornered, I requested him to send someone to handle the return process, but he coldly refused. Instead, he asked me to drop off the bike keys and the invoice for the repairs and reassured me that he would transfer the full amount, including the security deposit and repair charges, the next morning.

The following day, I attempted to reach out to Piyush multiple times, but he remained unresponsive. My desperation grew, and I even tried contacting him from different numbers. To my surprise, he picked up when I called from a friend’s phone, only to hear him make pathetic excuses about being busy on a tour to Spiti. He promised to process the payment the next day but failed to keep his word.

Despite my countless calls and messages, Piyush never bothered to respond or resolve the matter. It is clear that he has no intention of fulfilling his promises and is evading responsibility for his fraudulent behavior.

I strongly advise against using The Motorcyclist: Bike Rental Agency in Shimla. Piyush Grover is a fraud and a cheat, and his unprofessional conduct has ruined what was supposed to be an enjoyable trip. Save yourself the trouble and steer clear of this agency to avoid falling victim to his dishonest practices.
